Are you really sure about this one? The venue still claims not to know anything at all about it ...

If our national team make it to the final of the European Cup look for someone looking like THIS. :emot-boun

Congrats on the win just now. Portugal deserved this loss. :emot-LOL:

I'm sorry, but I don't care for soccer at all: Whenever I see a bunch of these staggering drunks waving their ugly flags and shouting "Deutschland! Deutschland!" I just want to kick them in their rotting teeth before they can continue their disorderly conduct by insulting immigrants or chanting neo-fascist rallying cries!
"Germ Money" doesn't deserve to win just because of this scum (It's not an exception, unfortunately!) in my opinion.
Sorry for my rant!
Back to topic: Does anybody happen to have any update on the band's arrival in Europe?

The Viking 06-22-2008 04:41 AM

Hell Fest was a great show. Cut short due to tecnical problems, but a great show, and the (big) crowd loved it, and shouted for more. Very succesfull show.

Dynamo yesterday was a late show, but I enjoyed it very much. Downside was a very small crowd, because of the European Championship football.

It's Tilburg today.

I see. I strongly hope the tour won't be hampered by the rest of that championship!

no worries Mick.

Yesterday's show in Little Devil in Tilburg, was heaps of fun. Afterparty for the Ministry-show in 013 in Tilburg. Very small pub, but more and more people walked in, and very good reactions from the crowd. Did well on the merch, which is always a good sign how much people have enjoyed it.

Day off today, which is used for driving to Berlin, where they play tomorrow.

I'm not on tour this time, mate. Way to busy with other things. Would have loved to do all these shows again, but it wasn't possible this time around.

I see. That's too bad ... See you later then!
I hope to be able to provide a few updates on the up-coming shows myself.

The Viking 06-23-2008 07:39 AM

which shows are you going to?

I'm still not sure how many shows I'll manage to attend ... I think I'll be in Hamburg and Osnabrück. I still hope to find some way to Graspop and / or Waldrock.
I've got a driving licence but no car and my driving experience is inadequate so it's complicated ...
I wish I had some like-minded companions ...!

The Viking 06-23-2008 08:20 AM

you can get close to the Graspop site by train, and from there, they have free buses.
Or rent a car, plenty of optiones there.

Yes, I read about that on their website: The ticket entitles you to free rides on all Belgian trains to and from the festival which I think is awesome!

I haven't driven in Agius, uh, I mean "ages".
;-) (Sorry, Adza! Just kidding, of course!)
That's why I don't dare to do it. Maybe I'll drive to Brussels by coach? I'll see.

Mick 06-25-2008 02:38 AM

Yesterday's Berlin show was another success in my book!
There were posters (Check them out here!) featuring Roy's awesome "Tripsis"-artwork all over the city which got them a lot of recognition even from people who didn't want to attend a Metal show.
The show was delayed due to the late arrival of the Polish support band. But this wasn't all bad because it gave the band some more time to digest the huge Italian dinner they were served at a local restaurant!
As it was a week night some (Fortunately they didn't play today because the place would have been empty because of the soccer Eiropean Cup semi-finals!) of the about 50 fans already had left the venue again when the band finished at approximately 1:15 AM. But there still was a small rush for the merchandise afterwards!
The band will have another long drive to Poland today.
See ya' tomorrow in Hamburg!

The Viking 06-25-2008 03:20 AM

thanks for the update Mick.

You're more than welcome, mate!
Considering that yesterday's Polish support band "Faust Again" arrived too late (By now I heard some complaints about the late start of yesterday's show ... Today I was tired as well but it was more than worth waiting in my opinion!) because of the many construction sites on their freeways / motorways I strongly hope Alchemist didn't have too tough a ride!
And tomorrow they'll have to drive all the way back - and then even some more: about 750 km!
Fortunately, the next legs will be much shorter!

The Viking 06-25-2008 04:07 PM

just got off the phone with Adam. Seems to be a packed show in Poland tonight. Tomorrow another long drive, and from there it's going to be easy traveling.

That's very good to hear! I guess the audience in Eastern Europe is much more hungry and grateful than that of Germany, e.g., because they don't get that many tours there.

Valan 06-30-2008 08:28 PM

Just got back from Graspop! Alchemist where definitely the highlight for me, I'm becoming more and more of a 'rabid' fan :D Brilliant show and talking to a few people after the gig who'd never heard Alchemist before...well they where very impressed and will be checking out the band some more! Loved hearing new and old tracks and the sound was great. I've got a few pics, but not brilliant quality, I'll upload the best ones when I've sorted myself out...ugh all that washing to do!

Got my Tripsis T-shirt, was wearing my Austral Alien tee for the gig and got a wave from Roy & a heads up from John :D (made my weekend...I'm a sad individual :D). Gutted that there where no signings after (unless I missed 'em) was hanging around the signing tent for ages just incase :(
Well I best get saving again for next time the band are in Europe!

Buram 06-30-2008 11:42 PM

cheers for the updates lads

Mick 07-02-2008 03:32 AM

The shows in Hamburg, Osnabrück, and Cologne only had a very small attendance (15-20 people), unfortunately ... Despite that and not feeling too well (Enjoy your off days, guys! You earned them through your hard work during these past weeks!!!) the band gave everything they had each night and in addition to that personally thanked each fan who stuck around a little after the show! This has been praised all over the forums I posted information on the Alchemist tour at. In fact I haven't read a single post that wasn't enthusiastic about their performances!
I vastly enjoyed all the shows! I thought the band was getting better and better each night. And I loved discovering minute differences in the way some parts of some of the songs sounded at different venues. It made me appreciate Alchemist's complex compositions even more!
The only thing I didn't like about the shows was the very low attendance. In Berlin there were lots of posters all over the town and there was a relatively good attendance. So I wonder if this is really just due to spending more money? But shouldn't there be other ways, too, in the age of Web 2.0? We should plan something for the next tour!

I couldn't have said it better!
Other than that I didn't enjoy the festival as much as I'd liked: E.g., I'd hoped for my first Alchemist-crowdsurf only to discover that this wasn't allowed at Graspop at all (Sorry, but in my opinion that's just gay!) ... and the security who had beer after beer looked pissed, bored and ready to fight just for the sake of it. I didn't care much for the mounted police and bloodhounds, either.
And having seen Alchemist so intensely no other band could grab my attention.

That's fucking awesome!
I haven't been to Hellfest, but from what everybody said I expected a bigger turn-out for Graspop, too. Maybe this is only me, but I thought nowhere near enough fans showed up for Alchemist there!

Yes, according to the website and the festival guide they'd planned an autograph session with Alchemist but then they were not among the bands announced on that billboard thing with the running red letters ...

For now I hope the remaining shows will be successful as well!
I'd planned on attending Waldrock but now I'll have a job interview (Actually it's even an assessment center ... *roll_eyes*) on that day ...
Would someone else be so kind as to provide us with a few impressions, please?

PS: What about you, Saldiac? I didn't see you at Graspop. Are you allright?

PPS: Thanx a LOT for the generous and hospitable way the band treated me with - again! This has been the longest, most awesoem and loudest post-birthday party I've ever had!!! :-D

For each Graspop day I was driving to Dessel from Rotterdam with Ed Warby (Gorefest, Hail Of Bullets) and Stephan Gebedi (Hail Of Bullets, Thanatos) and since both these gents are huge Kiss fans I had to drive back to Rotterdam very late. Didn't get to my bed until 4am.
We got up around 11am but after a required stop in Rotterdam city center we didn't hit the highway until 1pm on Sunday. Which means I missed out on Rotting Christ and Alchemist. Just wasn't possible unfortunately.

But I was there all 3 Graspop days, walking around with the beard. Some people threw comments at me, some wanted their pics taken with me, etc.
Highlights for me were Forbidden and At The Gates.

PS: I just shaved the beard yesterday, now my colleagues don't recognize me anymore haha.

Mick 07-07-2008 08:30 AM

Hey Saldiac, thanx a lot for your reply. It was good to hear from you again!

This may be none of my business but I'm just curious: Why were you doing this instead of staying at the festival site?
