Whose gonna be the new SOP drummer?

hmmmm

BIGGG shoes to fill

Cloaca 04-20-2007 02:13 AM

As I've said before, I'd like to see Henrik Ohlsson behind the kit for 'em. Not known as much for his furious blasting abilities, but he's got an awesome style and is one of the best drummers to have graced the death metal scene in my opinion. He could take Spawn in a different (but equally awesome) direction I think.

Would be cool, but hardly realistic, I think.

In between spending time with Scar Symmetry and his own grand tech death project Theory In Practice (release a new album, guys!) & real life obligations, there would be no time.

Cloaca 04-22-2007 09:58 AM

Well as far as I know, TiP is no more (it kills me). Scar Symmetry has nothing on TiP, I think Henrik would be better putting his abilities towards SoP. Of course I'm sure he might not want to leave a nuclear blast signed band for something smaller, but damn, you can always hope, heh heh...

I don't care who it is, or how long it will take: I just want the right person behind the drums. We'll just have to wait.:emot-blin

Let's not be completely sad, just put on Scorched of Noctambulent, or Lash by lash. Those songs never get old or boring IMO.

SOP ftw!!!!

Or Inner Conflict. That song makes my dick hard.

Vriend 04-23-2007 07:49 AM

Got to love that solo!
Swarm of the formless!!! I love all of their songs!!

Trust No One 04-23-2007 09:11 AM

God, no.

Spawn drums aren't about speed, they're about groove. Not to mention that dude already has a big fucking ego.

Trust No One 04-23-2007 11:24 PM

I think he could handle it. Reno would be my first choice, though. It shouldnt be hard for them to find a drummer.

modern death 04-24-2007 11:23 AM

I don't think Marco could handle it.
Especially not if he had to play Rondum's parts.

Marco pitruzella is a traditional brutal death drummer...he's fast and thats about it, he fits in perfectly with brain drill because theres really no groove needed for those songs just speed. He can't hang with SOP....Reno has a better chance IMO but still i wouldn't like to see either of these guys in SOP.

EchoesOfDecimation 04-24-2007 02:50 PM

All I can say is fuck. Listen to scorched and tell me thats not insanely fast. One of the most frantic sounding songs i`ve ever heard.

Did you see him when he was playing for vital? Nucca can play some FAST ASS blasts. And he played all the parts perfect.

modern death 04-25-2007 01:25 AM

Have fast are the Vital Remains songs? I don't think I've ever seen him do regular 8th note blasts.. but doing those at 270+ is a chore.. at least.. I would think.

Trust No One 04-25-2007 01:38 AM

have you guys heard Vornagar? Marco is fucking fast as hell on "The Bleeding Holocaust"

www.myspace.com/vornagar

Maybe so, but Djeez's comment makes sense. Even blasts can be groovy.

-Soeru- 04-26-2007 07:43 AM

Reno? No way, he's trying to relocate to the US to keep playing with Hate Eternal.

I didnt even know he joined Hate Eternal. Well, he'll be good for them. I just thought that with the drumming I heard from him on Old Man Child's "Vermin" that he would be a solid fit.

Yeah, of course! But Marco is just about speed, Rondum can get a really dark groove, I think Uncle Damfee is the best example, while Marco would write boring stuff for future SoP releases IMO.

And in memory of Rondum's works...292 bpms blasts.

marco is sick

Cloaca 04-29-2007 08:51 AM

Marco is too one-dimensional.

based on what? have you listened to the numa or vornagar cd's?

Cloaca 04-30-2007 08:45 AM

Heard some songs from Vornagar. He sounds too generic, seems like you can tell when he's going to do a fill and shit. Dennis got nice and creative with the cymbal work where as I've not heard Marco do anything like that. I'm not shitting on him, but he's not right for SoP.

the16th6toothson 04-30-2007 10:48 AM

the problem isn't their style...
it's that Dennis was the lyricist, and he helped arrange the music/vocal lines.

they didn't just lose a drummer
they lost one of the lead song writers-THAT is where they will have a problem...

no one's denying the groovyness that is Rondum/SoP..
don't worry, timmy. I was just saying that I don't think Marco would fit SoP at all.

Well yeah, there's that too. However, the drumming matters more than the lyrics. But I'm sure his songwriting involvement went further than just the drum patterns and lyrics. It sure will be hard to replace him.

Trust No One 05-10-2007 09:03 AM

well, SoP's lyrics are farily lame anyway(like 99% of DM bands), so I dont really see that as a loss.
