Akercocke

Pretty much the epitome of sickness. If anyone needs to sign to Willowtip, it's these guys. Earache seems to be fuckin' them in the ass or something. Haven't released a bad album and probably won't, though I do wonder what the new stuff would sound like if they had kept Schanlan. fuck previous threads, there should be DS type appreciation for this band on this forum.

Nökkvi 06-21-2010 05:42 PM

Agree.

Just can't seem to do anything wrong. I'm really curious where they'll take things from the direction they went with Antichrist. That album was fucking brilliant but so is everything they've done.

Grindmasterflesh 06-21-2010 05:49 PM

they sure are very unique. I´ve known akercocke since this record came out. they don´t seem to be very popular among more mainstream metal fans. no surprise though haha.

Johnny-Skinless 06-21-2010 05:58 PM

This is the best band in the world imo. Each album is a huge masterpiece and i simply cannot understand how they do it. I never feel like talking about it here though. It's beyond words.

ShadowHunter 06-21-2010 06:02 PM

love the band. not a single bad album. hard to choose a favourite, though

phagist_ 06-21-2010 06:10 PM

I think I need to listen to this band more.

This. I love this band so much. I just picked up a Clear Red Vinyl of their Demo's last night!!!

modern death 06-21-2010 06:20 PM

apparently Mr. Wilcock is leaving the band.

quartertone 06-21-2010 06:21 PM

He left some time ago.

Johnny-Skinless 06-21-2010 06:31 PM

"Rape Of The Bastard Nazarene" is fucking evil primitive thrashing death/black with brutal vocals and totally original sound. Very satanic atmosphere, unexpected parts and punky rhtyms. Pure genius.

cry0fth3carr0ts 06-21-2010 06:31 PM

the blastbeat over the clean guitar on axiom is so fantastic. haha who does that?

Phidion 06-21-2010 06:38 PM

The`cocke rules!
Should listen to them more often...

akercocke, on choronzon. though it's "clean guitar" not acoustic

Johnny-Skinless 06-21-2010 06:47 PM

You're talking about Enraptured By Evil, one of the darkest extreme DM songs ever. Entrancing.

yup. Hails Johnny.

thinkpad20 06-21-2010 06:59 PM

Incredible band. Agreed with those saying that they've never released a bad album, or even a remotely mediocre one. Any word on what they've done post-Antichrist?

Phidion 06-21-2010 07:06 PM

Jason Mendonca is a genius. Listen to his electronic projects too...

Nökkvi 06-21-2010 07:17 PM

I always get the the vibe that David Gray is the genius behind the details of the music.

I was talking about Enraptured being clean guitar and not acoustic, I'll definitely go brush up on my reading comprehension, though. :emot-roll

Monsieur Lebeauxxx 06-21-2010 08:06 PM

i guess it's easy to misread "who does that" as a non-rhetorical question, but i thought it was pretty commonly used...

never really gave 'em the time of day, guess i got some listenin' to do

Morfumax 06-21-2010 08:13 PM

I pretty much worship this band, if you can't tell by my sig.
Really really can't wait until the next album....will be album of the year.

Lichtbringer 06-21-2010 08:44 PM

Just listened to "Footsteps Resound in an Empty Chapel", since it used to be my favourite. Fuck, that song is badass.
But what the fucking fuck... That Wilcock/Gray project teaser that guy posted totally rips off my favourite riff from that song. At the 2 minute mark. WTF

De Profoundis 06-21-2010 08:44 PM

Disciples Of Belial is great. Recommend.

i always thought it was used in a negative connotation, so it had me confused too. i thought he wanted to know the drummer's name or something lol

so yeah, i've had Words Go Unspoken... for YEARS and i love it. for some reason, i've never bothered to check out the rest of their albums. which album do you guys think should be next in my ackerquest?

and there's Monsieur, more interested in trying to antagonize me over me making a shitty joke about akercocke than the band itself. Hoozah!

Everyone needs to email earache and ask them to put them on tour. seen them once and it was years ago.
