I am sure you feel the same way about your thesis. Sometimes a project like that engulfs you, and you might forget that it is actually work. That is usually how I relate to my projects at work.

My advice to you is: It is important to not give up when applying for your first job, but it sure can be a reality check. Even if you were a good student....employers will say that you don't have enough relevant experience. Or, you end up being set as the 2nd or 3rd candidate for a job, which usually means that you wont get it.

The job interview-situation can be incredibly frustrating when you, sometimes, know that the person on the other side of the table could hardly think their way out of a paper bag. For some reason they are qualified for the job though...

After an overall miserable 5 years at college, I'm three weeks away from graduating, I have a job lined up that I start May 21st, and I met a girl this semester who lives near me back home we get along very well :)

I'm dirt-fucking-poor right now, but with the above things going so right and a distinct light at the end of the tunnel, I'm feeling about as good about life as I ever have.

The essentials like The Inner Mounting Flame, Birds of Fire, Friday Night in San Francisco, and The Lost Trident Sessions. I love his work with Miles (Bitches Brew, Live Evil, In A Silent Way, On the Corner, Tribute to Jack Johnson), but he never seemed to fully open up with them like he did with his own group. I just started giving lessons, but I make enough to not have to work a retail job. The internet is a useful tool, but there's a lot of bullshit out there and nothing can substitute for an excellent mentor. No one can really teach you how to play jazz, but definitely get with someone you can trust and take lessons from. I've been playing with an ensemble and studying jazz guitar at the college I go to for the past year and it's the most fun I've had playing guitar since I started learning classical. Good luck with that endeavor if you pursue it.

My life has kinda been just murphys law for the past 2 years but im trying to keep my head up and hope for my good luck to start kickin it some point hahah. Between rehab/getting off dope, losing my best friend and having stomach problems where doctors dont know whats wrong, i can say i've been better haha. But my music taste has been expanding so much and im starting to find beauty in all forms of music.

Also just got back from an open house at the Art Institute of Philadelphia and got to see all of their equipment and learn about their audio production program which im very interested. Its nice to have a desire to go to school since i've dropped out from two different schools so far.
