When do people like to listen to ambient? During what sort of mood or circumstance does this stuff suit y'all? Most of the stuff on this page would piss me off even if I was trying to sleep.

don't be so sure, listen to this kinda stuff on headphones in bed, the tiredness + relaxing sensation of ambient is amazing. that said, i haven't gone through everything in this thread so idk
