It`s all about the Ibanez for 7 strings. But I did almost buy the loomis.

I've played the IBZ Universe, 5127, and Loomis.
The Loomis I felt most awkward with, considering it had the longer scale. It also had the bulkiest neck, but it didn't feel bad. I'm just comparing it to some super thin Ibanez wizard. The Loomis did have a HUGE low end, which I loved. The Universe, which I own, has a more more round sound. Personal preference. Check them all out. |

All depends if you like Ibanez necks, I don't, hence why I can't stand playing Universes or the 1527s or any 7 of theirs to be honest. If you can deal with Ibanez necks, then the 1527 would be spot on, if not, then the Loomis is definitely the best bet.

If you're planning to get a 7 strings guitar for praticing and studying defenitely go for a ibanez. The only thing i don't like of the newer ibanez 7 strings models is that they are manufactured in Corea or Indonesia , no more in Japan and that almost of them comes with 2 Ibanez humbucker pickups instead of the old good Di marzio model. So pay a lot of attention to the specs of the guitar you want to buy and if you find an old model like the one i have ( the rg7620 , 97's model ) defenitely go for it.
If you want to buy a 7 strings guitar to play death metal , avoid ibanez with the floyd rose and look for a Esp / Ltd guitar. I have a Stephen Carter signature model with 2 emg 81/7 and the most comfortable neck i have ever tried on a 7 strings guitar. Price was 1.199 € when it came out 2 years ago so probably you can find it with a lower price. |

I stay away from Schecter 7 strings due to their bulkier necks and longer scale lengths.
You really can't go wrong with Ibanez, as mentioned earlier the RG7620s are excellent guitars for the money, I have one and I love it. I also have a Carvin DC747C which is my #1 7 string but only after a neck re-profiling. |

I'm also looking for a 7-stringed. The Ibanez looks fine but I dont want their mics, avoiding shecter cus of their necks but they have emgs I want on their hellraiser c-7. Any other recommendations? Playing DM btw if that matters.

I just bought one....little over a grand though:
http://www.drumcityguitarland.com/dr...-P2107C14.aspx The Loomis is your best bet for "around $1000". I just can't stand ibanez... |

Schecter FTW
I just got a Schecter C7 with Seymour DUncan Blackouts and let me tell you this is the best guitar i've own. Sure the neck is bulky but I dont use it for incredible sweeping solos or else, but for heavy fat playing it's the bomb

I'm selling my Schecter C7+ with a DiMarzio Blaze in the bridge for $350. It's a good guitar but I find I prefer the neck on my Ibanez (scale lengths are the same; the Ibanez neck is just thinner and flatter). Some really like the Schecters, and they're definitely quality just not so much to my personal taste. The one I'm selling is a fixed bridge though.
In the $1k price range I'd probably go for a Carvin or an Ibanez. I've heard good things about the Loomis Schecter but I'm personally not a big fan of the 707 pickups, not enough bite and presence for my tastes. The Petrucci 7 string is probably the best production 7 around but they're super pricey. Also I'd look up Mammoth guitars; this guy builds custom guitars and by custom I mean REALLY custom down to the last detail, and he doesn't charge that much considering. I think it's somewhere between 1.5 and 2k. |

I want to buy a 7 string guitar for my bday which is next month. circumstances are about the same. 1000€ to spend max.
So I hear the Ibanez 7-strings are the best. a friend has the RG1527 model and it´s actually really a great guitar. Thing is - I don´t really need a floyd. All I want is that brutal b-string tone. I was recommended an Ibanez RG7321 hookerd up with an emg or some other quality humbucker. What do you guys think? anybody ever tried one of those? looking nice: http://www.rondomusic.com/interceptorprobkflm.html |

If ou like a 1527 you might not like the 7321 since it's the cheaper indonesian counterpart.
Look around for RG7621's or 7421's. These are basically first generation 1527's but with a fixed bridge. |

I know! and they aren´t even expensive. all the reviews are very positive. only problem is they can only be ordered from the us and well I´d like to try the guitar first before spending 800 bucks on it...

Well then you've been talking with idiots. Ibanez are far, FAR from the best. And Agile makes cheap crap. Literally 7 out of every 10 guitars up for sale on ss.org are Ibanez, and 2 out of every 10 are Agile. They both suck. |

^This guy's obviously never heard of taste. The reason why there are many of these trading hands is because they are abundant. I thought that was obvious.
OP, I've never tried Agile, but I hear really good things about them. The only thing they tend to get criticized about is their quality control. Ibanez on the other hand are a love/hate company, you either love them or hate them. I personally love them for their feel. If you're not into lighter woods and more lead oriented sounds then yeah I guess you should stay away from them. But considering that fixed bridge RGs go for 300-500 used on ebay, craigslist, or kijiji then you'll be hard pressed to find a better deal. However, if you have the budget for a Carvin 7 string ($800-1,100 depending on options) then of course I'd recommend them over anything else. Great quality and they make it to your specs for a very decent price. Not to much the wait isn't too long (generally 8 to 12 weeks). The Loomis is a pretty good guitar also, you can't go wrong with any of these options I think. Last edited by Claude; 07-17-2009 at 02:52 PM.. |

it´s the same deal with carvin...can´t try it. I am not rich or something so this is a lot of money for me. I want to make sure I like the guitar you know. How could I do that without ever having played a carvin...
they have a nice one in stock: http://www.carvinworld.com/guitars-i...p?Serial=95022 Last edited by Grindmasterflesh; 07-17-2009 at 03:36 PM.. |
