ruonitb?

Sorry for not answering...haven't checked this thread in a while.

I guess you sorted it out already?

It all depends on the mix itself though...I would recommend to clip single instruments (gclip) or at least snare and bassdrum.

One way to prevent the pumping is to extremely compress everything before doing the premaster; you maybe wanna try parallel compression if you still want to have some kind of dynamics in the mix. ;)

Sounds good. :)

I think the drums are a bit too low though...is this the complete DKFH kit? The snare is a bit thin; I like the guitar sound...

But the drums just sound like...DKFH. ;)
That doesn't mean that they sound bad but it's just too easy to "recognize" (especially for someone who used it/still uses it ;) ).

I would recommend to replace the snare and kickdrum (wrote that already).

But the mix as a whole is really good.

I just "finished" this today (only snips ;) ):

http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/602401/Sl...%20FUSnips.mp3

I used the same settings as always for this project...so recordingwise this is about 6 months old. ;)

Yeah, it's DKFH. Been using the same setup for about 2 years now. Too lazy/broke to upgrade to Superior.

I would love to replace the kick and snare, but I don't have the $ to drop on drumagog and I could never find a cracked copy of it for MAC OS X. I've always found the snare in DKFH to be incredibly thin and the kick is way too clicky. I didn't EQ the kit that much either. The snare and toms are the only samples that were compressed in my DAW.

I... dislike the guitar tone though, haha. I have to roll off so much low end because anytime I palm mute a C5 power chord, the bass rumbles my whole apartment. This tends to make the tone very thin. Slight compression on them as well.

Thank for the tips. Your mix sounds awesome as usual. Nice balance, tonal clarity, and punch. But man... I know you're more than capable of writing better metal stuff than that, haha. Cheers.

Just fyi, the drums on this song are DKFH with replaced kick and snare, guitars are free plugins and the "bass" is a downpitched guitar.

I use Battery 3 for replacing kick and snare ...maybe it's easier to find that for Mac.

I always record for the recordings sake and not the musics sake...that's why it sounds like that. ;)
It's a funny project though. :)

Sounded pretty good, although the mix sounded kinda fucked up at parts.
I'll have to listen to it again.

that's just some bs i recorded yesterday to test out my axe-fx. I listened to it today and I think it sounds like shit.. I hate that.

but I'm working on some music now (much better than that) that I want to get a band started with. I'm almost done writing the first album and will record it once I find a god damn guitar tone. I just got an SM57 so I'm going to see what I can do with my 5150.

No, that was me. Yeah, I haven't been playing with them all that long now. Enjoying the fuck out of it, though. It's a little slower than my previous bands, but it's every bit as heavy.

Ma band. Me and my drummer from an old metalcore band (ya I know... they told us they were 'thrashy' so we joined to get gigs and I wrote their 2 heaviest tunes for em, much to the anger of our guitar player who couldnt stop playing minor scales and octave cords) joined up with a buddy we knew from a few other bands around town. Said we were looking for a Cryptopsy, CC, Origin kinda sound (figured he wouldnt know who Wormed or Defeated Sanity were hahaha).

Has kind of a Meshuggah/Morbid Angel/Cryptopsy feel to it, with a bit of Nile-esque riffage he and there. No vocals or bass right now but were recording the full length this weekend (8 tracks so far, plus we do Phobophile and Dawn of the Angry cover, but thats usually a 'fill the end of the set' kind of thing). Tuned to drop F# on 7s for ultimate brown notage.

I have recently finished up, and just released online for free download the new demo album, Spanning the Void, for my band, This White Mountain.

This album was heavily influenced by Alcest, Woe and Wolves in the Throne Room, and it combines dark, aggressive riffs, melody, ambient passages, intellegent drumming, and vocals that could easily frighten a nun or small child.

You can stream 2 songs from the album on Myspace and the whole album on Last.fm.

If you like what you hear, you can download the full album in a high quality MP3 (V0) rip on Mediafire, and if you feel so inclined, you can purchase the album when it is available in a few days, or make a small donation through PayPal (send to thiswhitemountain@yahoo.com).

Thanks in advance for you consideration and support.
