And now, my favorite bassist playing with a pick (he plays in PAVOR, do you know him?):

YES. Sorry to break the myth.

Rainer!
I think I even asked him is he all fingers, he confirmed that. Just a very strong bridge pick-up sound I guess.

Really? He said me he only plays with a pick, to get that attack. He said "I hardly pluck with my fingers" or something

I could be wrong, but this is how I've always pictured it.
It was really hard for him to response my questions in the first place, so I'll leave that to someone else

Seeing Meshuggah live made me realize how underrated their bassist is. Also, the chap from Exivious who plays live with Cynic is great. Drunk people in the crowd were making fun of him and calling him "whiter than Moby" for some reason :(

Yeah, I wish there was more info on Meshuggah's bassist's set-up and technique and everything. I really want to know how he plays in relation to the guitars.

Fimmers (Necrophagist)
Webster (CC)
Tony Choy (atheist)
Guillemoth (wormed)
Murray Fitzpatrick (severed savior)
François Mongrain (martyr)
Ville Koistinen (demilich)
Le Pisithanate (xeohl)
Andreas Larssen (shining)
Norgaath (corpus christi)
Jürgen Bartsch (bethlehem)
Steve Bailey (solo jazz artist?)
Sharlee D'Angelo (witchery, arch enemy)
Erlend (incinerate, blood red throne etc.)

Besides the musicians that are more technically proficient, I added some on my list that I like mainly because of the way they handle their sound. I'm not really into slap-a-thon bassists like Wooten. I think he's a good musician, but his style is not really attractive to me.

Victor Wooten is pretty out there, amazing player.
Lars K blew my mind on A Sceptic's Universe. Seriously. He basically ripped me a new asshole on that album.

Hemispheres, Caress of steel, Farewell To Kings, !2112!! Recently checked out Grace Under Pressure which is pretty intriguing.

But yeah man, Trailer Park Boys is probably the pinnacle of modern day television for me. Will never see so much of awesomeness in a tv-program ever again.

well that wasn't that much of a long list haha

But yeah, Jeff Walker is a pretty influential bassist to me, good sound and presence, tight rhytmic playing, and pure attitude

Indeed, love the bass/guitar relationship on catch! Anyhow, the guy playing now is a Warwick-guy, right? And Mesh is all about Line 6?
