It's more about necessity than flash, man! It's clean, the top on the body has some nice figuring, and the rosewood neck (to me at least) is beyond gorgeous.

Forgive me for not wanting an overly histrionic instrument.

24 frets would be nicer.

What kind of humbucker are you spyin'?

edit - And if you stuck some of those single string bridges that Ibanez and Schecter use, I'd buy that shit up in a second.

If you're talking to me, I don't need the 24 frets, personally. I'm thinking a Music Man hummer for punch (at least that's what I've always heard about them).

I thought about the individual string bridges, but it ended up looking too "modern" for my tastes. Went with the big brass bridge instead. :)

Found the body and neck on Warmoth...the damned neck is $600 by itself, but aside from that, it would be a pretty reasonable build.

Right now I have tremendous GAS for an 80's Steinberger. Be it the compact model or not, but I want headless. The same goes for all headless Status basses too.

I actually won a headed Status bass off ebay last night, pics next week

Conklin's have already been mentioned, but this is a beautiful guitar. I wish I had the money and the patience to get a 7 string custom built.
