Same here, I am not up to speed with his evolution (or devolution), but I suppose he is still the main reference point of hipsterism for most of folks in the metal spheres.

I don't thing it's "more" in general since you find nothing really news on this album. Maybe Dominic put some more driven melodys like on Anchorite, or Message Sonore but they are no radical change in their sound this time.

But my opinion has changed slightly and well. Very consistent (a point on which FE failed a little maybe) and always this touch of fantasy proper to Augury. Brutal, technical, atmospheric all the package is there, just more condensed than usual. After nine years, I would have seen an album as gargantuan as its illustrious predecessor, but I will not spit in the soup and enjoy this new opus with delight.

Cannibal Corpse - The Wretched Spawn. Well, average overall. Far from my favorite output from them.

That last track is a godsend of funeral doom.

Listening to cenotaph, as bdm goes I can think of few as good other than defeated sanity.

Finally, what appeared an overlooked album last year is tongues , hreinia, for fans of deathspell but also virus and its own thing.
