okay, point taken, that was just a little vague...more or less tabs, and stuff to help playing in general. I know a lot of it is just practice and taken the time to do it, but it'd be nice to start something with a half-assed idea of what im doing, ya know?

Does anyone here have any lessons for two-handed tapping (like the last song on the Element album)? I'd love to get to know it more. I've learned Between The Buried And Me - "Breathe In, Breathe Out" which is really fun (I'll upload the tabit file if anyone wants), but that's about it. Any info would be appreciated.

This one is pretty fun to learn, it's a good exercise I think. It helped improving my 2-finger tapping, which I think is fun as hell! I had some links with other tapping exercises, but I lost them due to a crash...not sure what the adresses were, but I'll post them as soon as I remember 'em. Sorry if I didn't help you with that link. EDIT: I'll just post the whole exercises-section off of Frank Schiphorst's website. Lots of good exercisesm such as tapping, sweeping, picking exercises, etc. Click 'Tabs' for these exercises I'm talking about. http://www.frnk.tk/ (Frank plays in Control Human Delete & Marcel Coenen's band.) Symmetric Scales and Arpeggios
Here are some symmetric scales/arpeggios in various patterns that I wrote out today. Make sure to play these descending as well as ascending. Hope I didn't put too much here :)

get a life. this thread wins big time.
Im posting here some bass excercises/Warm ups I have posted in the forums before in random threads, also in the Death/grind bassists group, posting them here for group outsiders. Most are in Gp5 format, others in Pdf http://www.sendspace.com/file/0puav3 http://www.sendspace.com/file/0hjiou http://www.sendspace.com/file/04b0vn http://www.sendspace.com/file/mhp83k http://www.sendspace.com/file/3uhk19 http://www.sendspace.com/file/mc5s3f http://www.sendspace.com/file/zndz6p http://www.sendspace.com/file/cur2a1 http://www.sendspace.com/file/wviaws |

I've never opened this thread before, but there is some useful shit in here. I just ran through all the exercises on the first page. Ive seen a lot of them before, but i havent been in lessons in a couple months, so I'm rusty as hell, and when I was in lessons I was more about musical stuff than technical stuff.
I havent read the whole thread, so I dont know if theres already one in here/the same one id post, but I have a pretty good finger dependency practice somewhere in my passitino notebook from lessons, I'll definitely post it some time when I'm not about to go to bed. PS I suck balls at rolling fingers from fret to fret and keeping a strong, clean, sound. Does anyone know any tricks to that type of stuff? EDIT: Froren. I just got to your post on this page. Can you give me an example of a song that used the whole-tone scale? Cause generally that is a very difficult one to use and is reserved for the dream sequence passages in movies, as far as I know. And reading the Polyrhythm article made me understand it a lot better, and realize I've done stuff like that, like playing quarter note triplets over a 4/4 beat on a metronome in class. This thread is useful, bring it back. Last edited by Nun Stampede!; 11-20-2008 at 01:04 PM.. |

Code:
---5---2---5---2---5---2---5---2---5---2---5---2------ ------------------------------------------------------ -2---5---2---5---------------------------------------- -----------------2---5---2---5------------------------ ---------------------------------2---5---2---5-------- ------------------------------------------------------ You can also hold down your 1st and 4th fingers on the 2nd and 5th frets (on B) and use your 2nd and 3rd fingers. That looks like this. I am horrible at this one though. Code:
---4---3---4---3---4---3---4---3---4---3---4---3------ ------------------------------------------------------ -3---4---3---4---------------------------------------- -----------------3---4---3---4------------------------ ---------------------------------3---4---3---4-------- ------------------------------------------------------ |

here is a really great article about various substitutions that you can make during your comping and soloing if you are into jazz/improvisation
http://davidvaldez.blogspot.com/2006...iminished.html edit: I just found another good article, this one is talking about john coltrane's various substitutions on tunes from giant steps and blue train http://valdez.dumarsengraving.com/tranesubtunes.pdf Last edited by untitled; 11-25-2008 at 08:54 PM.. |

Is Mabel's Fatal Fable's main lick as hard as I think it is? I'm having a shitting day on guitar and for some reason I tried to learn that (smart thing to do when you have a shitty guitar day huh?) and I feel like shit, lol. How clean and fast JB plays it is insane.
