2019 album discussion thread

Hmm... I liked the Mgla album but then again they've always just fit into that 'pretty enjoyable BM' bucket for me, rather than being mindblowing.

I think Cattle Decapitation are a bit like Aborted in the sense that they've just fallen victim to getting a bit too popular and a bit too polished/produced. Kinda odd and fart-sniffing to say but it's starting to veer into pop-death metal in some ways...

Anyone know whether we can find that full Esoteric track? Feels a bit weird listening to just one song from an album of theirs let alone just a snippet.

I agree this track is hard to listen to, for me much worse than the last couple which I didn't mind from the production side. I'm hoping it's a bad rip somehow.

Karl's vocals are weird, the production is weird, song seems kind of all over the place on first listen...my only hope is that it can grow on me and become something kind of interesting and idiosyncratic as opposed to WSNBU which was solid but really felt like a retread.

Equating Cattle Decapitation with Aborted is very unjust if merely from a production standpoint; the latter has made one of the greatest comebacks in metal history with two of the business’ most tasteful musicians, the drummer and the recently departed guitarist. I would kill for that guitar player’s relaxed yet accurate and wholesome playing style.

To put this into context, Evergrey also is one of the greatest comebacks in metal history.

New Exhumed leaked! I've been listening to it all day yesterday. Unfortunately, I had to amplify the rip when I got home because the entire album was over 8 db too low. It's like a of mix of Gore Metal and Slaughtercult and easily their best since Anatomy Is Destiny (I'd go as far to say this is my 2nd favorite album, right behind Gore Metal). Their grind roots is back in full force. I haven't been this giddy over an album in years. It's definitely my album of the year.
