Hmm. I love football, and Australia is my team this World Cup (since Norway's so crap they didn't even qualify)...

Best match until now is Spain's 4-0 win yesterday.. Amazing!

Michael has learned a new expression here: Hup Holland hup! He even bought an orange scarf hehe and tomorrow we are going to watch the match against Ivory Coast. I' m not really a soccer lover but it can be fun to watch the national team with friends.

I'm rooting for Trinidad and Tobago because they are underdogs and they are so new. Their game against England was so spirited, it was so sad to see them lose like that SOOO close to the end..

Well, they fucked up pretty hard yesterday, versus Chana. With Koller & Baros injured and Lokvenc suspended, I'm really wondering who's gonna be their forward in the match versus Italy..

Italy vs. USA was also quite an entertaining match I have to say!

Well, Brazil won their matches so far, but I have to say I'm far from impressed by their game. The team that played best so far is definitely Argentina.

Norway simply didn't qualify..

Yes, that was really a pity, and the 1-0 by Crouch should have been cancelled, because he pulled the defender by the hair! Funny the guy didn't even protest, cause it was clear to see in the replay.

During this worldcup yes, but you've got both the Worldcup ('98) and Eurocup ('00) still fresh in your memories, so stop complaining! ;)

For sure, but the thing is, as you noticed ;), french team stopped playing tonight after the 2nd goal... even when they're winning (over Togo) they're still disapponting ;)
PS : 1998 and 2000 were ages ago...

We're out .

Ah well, it was more a guerilla battle than a match really, 20 yellow cards (4 double ones = 4x red)!

boooooooooo
We deserved a goal in the second half but didnt get it :( So many missed opportunities!
And what a match to watch, at a certain point it was like a comedy when the yellow cards were flying around. It's really sad though that people don 't remember how to play soccer without being a bitch. This had very little to do with soccer...

Well,
When I realized that the players wasan't wering the orange t-shirt I talked to myself:they will loose this match, they aren not the same without wering orange:).Here in Brazil we used to call Netherland's team of "mechanic orange".Ok, the referee was a jerky...so good for our Phil.:)

Swiss x Ukraine...The horror! The horror!.It was a lack of respect with the ball.
Italy should have lost the game, but "Azurra" still fighting...
But, now I'm very anxious about the match against Brazil x Gana.At noon the whole country will stop.

This has been the first time I've watched the World Cup, but it's been really fun to watch.

Now, with USA being out, I'm going for Germany or England to win, mainly because those are the only two countries I've been to (other than the United States of course)

Again all the predictable teams (except Ukraine and Portugal) are in the 1/4 finals, bleh.. I want a team to win that hasn't won before, but that seems very unlikely (with all due respect to Ukraine and Portugal).

I was hoping for Ghana to cause a surprise and punish Brazil's laziness so far (sorry Elaine), but they still win 3-0 playing only at 70% strength.. And they were also bloody lucky, one offside goal (the 2-0 by Adriano) and a 100% lucky save of Dida. And also the referee was very much in favour of the Brazilians (the first one of 2x yellow for Asamoah Gyan was ridiculous).

Then I was hoping for Spain, but they failed the 'killer instinct' despite their beautiful and attractive playing, such a pity..

Ok.Brazil still owing....but still in the game:) now, France is in our path again,:)I hope this time we win.I agree, Dida was the "man of the match", I think the Brazil team are very luck until now, because their player, one guy can make the difference, this time was Dida.I was rooting for Spain,it was so sad that they loose the game.

Yep, sadly for Brazil they couldn't 'grow into the tournament' like some people thought/hoped they would.. I think both Argentina and Brazil were punished for their lack of courage to line up their young and fresh players in favour of the 'old' heroes. I'm surprised how France did grow better in the tournament, cause they played terrible in the group matches, but the victories versus both Spain and Brazil were deserved no doubt!
