Maybe you should try a butcher.

but seriously, i'm going out to guitar center after work tonight. what should i get?

my friend told me to try elixer nanoweb coated strings. he said they last longer than most. they're a little expensive though.

The Elixer Nanoweb strings seem pretty good, I helped restring my friend's acoustic with them. Make sure your action isn't too low, otherwise all of your notes will be really percussive and have choked sustain. Another dude I know who loves playing acoustic guitars always recommend Martin strings.

That's all the help I can give lol, haven't touched my acoustic in at least 5 years.

I apparently use Martin SP's, but it's still the set that were on the guitar when I bought it so I have nothing to compare to. When you guys say you love or hate certain ones is it mostly a matter of tone?

i really never pay much attention to what brand i buy but the last few sets i've gotten have gone dead super fast and had an almost muted warm tone. my guitar is already warm sounding to begin with so it makes for a bad combination. obviously every guitar is different, but that's what i meant.

my action is relatively low too. it might even be too low and affecting the tone a little. i'm going to have a shop set it up for me i think. stupid taylors apparently have a special key to adjust the neck... i didn't even know that.

yeah, that muted, snappy tone is probably a result of low action.
