I personally think this is highly enjoyable:



When I was growing up, accessible metal was simplistic garbage like Papa Roach and Linkin Park etc. The kids who grow up on this stuff and decide to take up instruments are going to be fucking killers.

I spun the new Mastodon a couple more times since there's a better quality rip and it's growing on me. I still think it's The Hunter pt 2 and there is some boring, forgettable songs but it's better than The Hunter. The Motherload, Halloween and Ember City are still my favorites. I guess I should just stop hoping for them to release anything on par with CtS.

I desperately want them to do another Remission type thing. I get lost in all the catchy hooks, each song sounds the same. It's enjoyable but forgettable... which is sad considering their purview as musicians. They're still amazing live though, will see them every chance I get.

I'm sure it will grow on me eventually when I'm more in the mood, but Dead Congregation still reminds me too much of Tucker-era MA and other shit I've heard before. I know it's solid but I don't think I've even made it through the full album yet.
