EX DEO: American tour with Ensiferum, Hypocrisy,Blackguard

Fresh off a successful stint on this year's Summer Slaughter Tour, Finnish folk metallers Ensiferum will kick off an American headlining tour with support from Nuclear Blast recording artists HYPOCRISY and EX DEO as well as Sumerian recording artists Blackguard.

Said Ensiferum guitarist Markus Toivonen:

"We had a great time on this year's Summer Slaughter tour. Thanks to all the bands involved, and to all the fans that came to see us. We're very excited to come back to [America] in November to support our new album, From Afar. HYPOCRISY, EX DEO and BLACKGUARD are great bands. It should be great fun for everyone!"

Roman-themed death metal troop EX DEO, featuring members of Kataklysm, Martyr and Blackguard, will be touring in support of their recently issued debut, Romulus.

"I would like to thank everyone from the Ensiferum camp for this generous invitation," said mainman Maurizio Iacono. "We cordially accept the offer, but make no mistake: Rome bows to no one and our American legions are growing rapidly. We come for blood and we shall take no prisoners and in the great words of Caesar, 'Vini, Vidi, Vici,' and this is what we intend to do in November.”

The folk-influenced progressive metal act Blackguard are currently celebrating the release of their debut, Profugus Mortis. Added Blackguard vocalist Paul Ablaze:

"We had such a blast with our Finnish brothers ENSIFERUM on the Summer Slaughter tour that a second round seems appropriate. Magnified by the legendary HYPOCRISY and our friends in the Roman legion of EX DEO, this will be the show to see this late fall."

my friend is going to this gig 07. Nov. 2009 Crocodile Rock Cafe Allentown, Pennsylvania , one fellow countryman representing Costa Rica.
i hope he doesn't get so wasted . as he did last time on the first date of the campaign for musical destruction. he met M. and he was so drunk he couldn't even take a picture. the good part was that he bought me another prevail vinyl and M and stephane signed it. the only autograph that i-m missing is Max-s.

Our Ex Deo guys are forced to Miss SOME dates on North American Tour!
EX DEO have officially pulled out of some dates on the ENSIFERUM tour for visa matters beyond the bands control.

Commented Maurizio:
"Well the Gods are definitely not smiling on us at the moment. Some confusion happened
in the visa departement for a couple guys in our camp and by the time it will be solved,
the tour will be too far in for us to join it and financially it would be a disaster.
The good news is we will be doing the last week of shows from Chicago to New York.
We’re planning some EX DEO stuff next year in America at the moment.
We’ve lots of supporters that will be dissapointed if it doesn’t happen
so we’ll try our best to make it up next year.”

ENSIFERUM, HYPOCRISY, EX DEO, BLACKGUARD, SWASHBUCKLE*

11/29/09 Logan Square Auditorium – Chicago, IL
11/30/09 Peabody’s – Cleveland, OH
12/01/09 The Opera House – Toronto, ON – CANADA*
12/02/09 Imperial de Quebec – Quebec City, QC – CANADA*
12/03/09 Le Medley – Montreal, QC – CANADA*
12/04/09 The Palladium – Worcester, MA*
12/05/09 The Fillmore @ Irving Plaza – New York, NY*

EX DEO will film a video for the track “In Her Dark Embrace” taken from the bands critically acclaimed debut Romulus.
The video will be shot once again by renowned director Ivan Colic and producer Stanimir Lucik in Belgrade, Serbia.
The filming will take place in early January 2010 and will be released in the month of Mars (March) to celebrate Mars,
the ancient Roman god of war.

Ex Deo Chicago

Saw those guys in Chicago and they rocked the house. They commanded the crowd, by far the best band on that bill. They even had that Saverio Donancricchia from the album jump on stage and do Storm the Gates with them. He is a big bastard.

Bump. I love me some Nuclear Blast recordings, sir. I checked out Ex Deo and a few others. I think Meshuggah was on their label for a while. It's an awesome label.
