Repulsion
-dude, these guys sounded exactly like their recordings. Totally exceeded my expectations

Cripple Bastards
-IMO, their old recordings are way better than their live sound, but I still a blast when they played.

The Kill
-really tight and fast

and i guess Magrudergrind.. i think most of their shit is over-rated, but no one can deny their great live performances.

I haven't actually witnessed a good powerviolence live performance.. too much cookie cutter BS

magrudergrind and insect warfare in 2005 was amazing. i had the honor of opening this show when i was 16 yrs old. both of these bands went in a really weak direction later in their careers so im glad i got to catch both before all the hype.

Yes about IW, I think any grinder from this city knows that well, but the S/T was the best thing Magrudergrind has ever done, beats the shit out of their pv material.

Best Grindcore band was probably Gridlink or Cripple Bastards, both bands were amazing in their own way.

Best Powerviolence band i've seen is easily Iron Lung, so good. Need to see them again

one of the best gigs was seeing (for the first time) The Day Everything Became Nothing, Vaginal Carnage and Roskop (or Bonehead as they were called at the time) - sadly it was the final VC gig as Chris died the next day

Captain Cleanoff at a Metal For The Brain was also highlight as they tore it and the crowd went berserk - same goes for the Fuck I'm Dead set from that gig

RGTE at MDF in '07 was bloody awesome I thought although it took me a few songs to come down from the high of seeing General Surgery straight beforehand and realise how great they were

Blood Duster around the Yeest/Str8 era were untouchable live and thankfully I saw them a few times back then

although really everytime I see The Kill these other gigs pale

Since I last posted, I can add Weekend Nachos and Jesus Crost to the list of "best bands" i've seen live for completely polar reasons. Not really sure how "powerviolence" WN are as I don't really give a shit about genre profiling so if they're not powerviolence enough for this thread call the scene police.
I was expecting to be at least a little disappointed when I saw them at Bloodshed Fest but they were pretty awesome, thanks at least in part to the relatively small confines of the stage they played adding to the intensity.
Jesus Crost on the other hand were just a masterclass in precision blast & go grind for me. Bit weird seeing them on as big a stage as it was when it's just the two of them but still a great band to watch.

They aren't powerviolence. His vocals just sound like Infest sometimes.

One of my favorite bands of MDF 2010, was worth getting up early for.

WN are fun live, better then on album.

Definitely got to add Despise You to this, so fucking sick live.

Shitstorm were intense the day before MDF last year, they were good @ MDF too, but that prefest show in NYC was fucking tight.

Like Gus said, I actually think Magrudergrind just gets better and better, and I love their old stuff.

JC were cool but when it comes to 2 peice bands Iron Lung were a little better.

And how the fuck did I miss mentioning xbrainiax, they were fucking sick.

i saw deadeyedstare back in 2002 or '03 in phoenix.. i think i was 16 and it was the first actual grind band i saw live. blew my mind. i think vehemence and impaled were the headliners but i loved deadeyedstare for the energy.

since i moved to missouri from phoenix i haven't seen hardly any true grind bands. *tear* magrudergrind came through with misery index but that's about it.

Yeah, I'd normally list them as 'hardcore' but fuck it, they were one of the best bands of Bloodshed Fest last year so I thought I'd include them anyway.

Glad The Kill has been mentioned.
Ether Rag and Internal Rot are also very good live.
Wasn't too impressed by Pig Destroyer when they played Sydney. Is the fourth guy offering much as a member in the band yet?

ASSUCK (...saw them many years ago, still one of my fave shows...)
LOOKING FOR AN ANSWER (...never saw them until MDF 2012, really good...)
INSECT WARFARE (...show was in GA I think...totally deranged...)
CRETIN (...more punk than actually grind, but still great...)
ABLACH (...saw them with F.U.B.A.R., great show...)
