Strychnine.213

So I've herd the new CD (I already paid for my Evidence Bag so I'm not being a cheap downloader :p) and its awesome. I suck at reviews so Ill just say I'm liking it better then S&A and those interview samples are creepy as shit. Sven's vocals are sick as always and the songs kick ass. Great work aborted!! I can't wait for my bag

Also...Who does those different deep vocals? example would be at like 27 seconds in on like "Ophiolatry".. They were on S&A too and sounded different then Sven.

Some first reviews:

ROCK SOUND UK
Less mass murderer than previous incarnations, this is the cold, calculated approach of a sadistic killer, taking you slowly back through the corridors of his killing house, shining up his tools and slowly beginning the dissection while you watch. Clinical in its approach, there’s no filth on here, it’s all very polished-sounding and glistening and it’s all the more ferocious for it – because with everything out in the open you’ve got nowhere to hide. And neither do Aborted. Every note, every nuance, every twist and turn in the songs is clearly displayed and it works immensely in their favour. Instead of hiding behind a blanket wall of noise they’ve opened everything out and it makes the experience all the more brutal for it. Genuinely scary at times, the use of samples is well thought-out and appropriate, the guitar tone clean and cutting, representing cool, sharp, surgical steel, glistening with blood. The vocals may be vomit-soaked and phlegm-heavy, but they never go all Cookie Monster, while the drums blast or hold back depending on what fits. Refusing to pander to the current death herd, it’s altogether a great album" less about the individual songs and more the overall effect. 9/10

ROCK HARD FRANCE

LORDS OF METAL NL

Stark!

THRASH MAG
Aborted "Strychnine.213," "Carrion," gives us a creepy voiced man introducing us getting us pumped for what was about to be unleashed. What was unleashed was total death metal madness with "Ophiolatry." Having the vocals standing out with great growling abilities and fasting drum beats sounding a lot like Cannibal Corpse's "Sentenced to Burn," with the drum tones going as fast as they can. The guitars don't do such a bad job either with their fast riffing skills giving an eletro effect during the middle as the song comes to a mellowed beat down. Forming in 1995 Aborted took off without a hitch singing about death, gore, and violence like most death metal bands love to sing about. Who wouldn't want to sing about torture? "I35," is another catchy track having the drums keep in beat with the guitars and having the vocals float on top. Aborted is made of as follows; Svem de Caluwe (vocals), Sebastian "Seb Purulator" Tuvi (guitar), Pete Goemaere (guitar), Dan Wilding (drums) and Sve Janssens on (bass). Straight out of Belgium, Beveren, Antwerp, Aborted has come a distance going through a lot of hard times and throw downs of band mates and releasing a variety of albums and demos. Having finally signing with Century Media Records, Aborted knew they finally had everything in the bag. Once the release of "Strychrine.213," erupted they knew that the death metal scene was just about to get even bigger, than it ever has been. 9/10

METAL ZONE SPAIN

GLOBAL DOMINATION
Legendary isn’t really too strong a word for Aborted, after all, ever since releasing “The Purity of Perversion”, these Belgian bastards have unleashed shock waves upon the metal world. Starting out as a gore-themed death metal act that impressed because of technicality and brutality (as I am impressing you right now with my rhyming), the band eventually found melody, captivating even more people and pissing the hell off of a bunch of tr00 kvlt arysk metalheads. “Strychnine.213” is the new pearl in Aborted’s clam (what?) and it sounds quite different than everything they’ve released in the past. For starters, even though it is still death metal and very aggressive, this is probably the least brutal album of their discography. And yes, melody is abound, much to dismay of the Disgorge legions. As far as this reviewer is concerned though, evil manic assault of the band’s instruments isn’t really the primary concern. Musicality is what it really boils down to, and Aborted sure are displaying bucket loads of it here. As a matter of fact, this little fucker sounds a lot better than “The Archaic Abattoir” and probably just as good as “Slaughter & Apparatus: A Methodical Overture”. For starters, there is a lot of diversity between the songs, not that endless onslaught of the ear drums. And, as I’ve mentioned before when reviewing bands like Pig Destroyer, I find it really interesting when bands manage to release pissed off music that actually makes sense and is pleasing to the ear. Sure, you may want to disembowel virgins and stuff a dog’s entrails in Christ’s rectum, but I’d love to hear the details of your inane exploits. While the drums blast beat away like there is no tomorrow (the new guy, Dan, is a pounding maniac), there is some very intricate guitar work here, and there are a number of memorable solos, particularly in “I35”. The bass… yeah, never mind about the bass, the vocals show great improvement as well, and even though there are some questionable effects here and there, I’d much rather listen to Sven de Caluwé expand his horizons than sit through what resembles a volcano erupting inside a small box. It’s actually quite curious how Aborted sound so fucking tight even though most of members only joined the band a year ago. They would make you believe they’ve been doing this as long as Sven. That shows fucking professionalism, so learn, children! Brutal death metal? Gore grind? Nah, those days are long gone for Aborted. If you’re interested in that, take a hint, there are a shitload of bands doing that out there. Some are good, some are not. Have fun sorting those out. If you want to listen to great song writing and amazing musicianship, ah, this here is for you then.
The cover: Ohhh, this one is really cool, some bitch gagged, bound and tortured. Probably the best Aborted cover, by the way.

ALLSCHOOLS GERMANY

I'm pretty sure 213 is the room number of Jeffery Dahmer's apartment.

I'm pretty sure it is too, as he said that in an interview.

Either way, just got my evidence bag today. It's an amazing album! Gave me chills first listen through. You guys really outdid yourself. I fucking love this album.
