Nebulous - Into Infinite Spectrums

Just uploaded our new EP 'Into Infinite Spectrums' to our bandcamp. Just figured I'd update the first post to reflect the most recent one.

Any constructive feedback is greatly appreciated, positive or negative.

sounds good. that logo/website look professional as hell. you could probably start a clothing line based solely on that logo.

Doesn't get boring at all and it has progression. I wish the guitars sounded more beefy, probably just the stream though.

oh damn guys, thanks a lot. And yeah, we're definitly going to find someone else to record with next time, I'm really dissapointed in the guitar tone but I think overall its not too bad for $200 for recording, mixing, and mastering.

also, my friend Garrett did all the designs. If anyone wants his info for some work or something just PM me, he does tons designs for bands and companies.

Sounds interesting! I enjoyed it quite a bit. I agree with whats been said about the tone being a little to thin for my liking but as a demo it sounds very promising. Also i really dig the logo!

Whats your role in the band?

Pretty much what everyone is saying. Full support from me. You'll just need some better production by your first real release!

Nice Autopsy cover too

Its got a nice crusty sound to it because that all the guy usually records, punk and grind bands and whatnot - we were the first metal band he's ever done and he's not a metalhead himself so he didnt really have an idea of a "death metal" tone. We're gonna go all out next time and get this dude in town who records As I Lay Dying and some other metal blade bands.

And I am the vocalist, I wish I could shred an instrument as good as the other guys. Also, we're a 3 piece

Actually, here's a question: what are the lyrical themes you're working with?

I don't have a broad all encompassing theme.

One is about a black hole (written when I was still an astrophysics major and buying all the seasons of The Universe), another is about a supernova ending life on earth, and the third is about how at the core, we don't really have any free will and everything we do is just some type of reaction we can't control.

there was a spacey kinda theme at first but I ditched it. I just like telling stories.

It's been a year since we started the band and we're still together and continuing to grow.

We're about to spend the next 7 days recording with Joseph McQueen at Echelon Studios (Metal Blade Records). We're going to release a 4 song EP titled 'Into Infinite Spectrums'. Our friend Aaron Gibbs will be putting it out on cassette through Sick Machine Records and we plan on self releasing it on CD once we can scrape the funds together.

After 12 months and some 20 odd shows, we've really got our legs under us as a band and we feel like these are the best songs we could possibly write at the moment.

A whole lot of words and not much substance, I know, but it shouldnt be too long before we have some unmastered tracks to share.

It wasn't awful, but my first impression is it isn't great either. Too many of the riffs sound rushed and a little out of place. And maybe this is just the production, but the playing isn't very cohesive.

Definitely not bad for a first demo though.

edit: just read that the songs at the top are a year old. In that case, I'm excited to hear how you guys have grown since then!

Made the video in like 20 minutes as a (mostly) inside joke for some friends, but you can hear some riffs and stuff. Check it out.
