I haven't spent a ton of time listening to it yet, but it sounds good. Pretty comparable to the s/t. The cover art is really ugly.

If the singer's different I'll try it.

I bought the s/t and liked the music, but the singer ruined the release for me.

I liked it, although I would like hearing the music with a different approach to the vocals, something less conventional.

Re: cryptopsy's book of suffering

Less good than the self titled album imo. Some bad riffs here and there (jump da muthafucka at 40 seconds on the second track), and they tend to use always the same breakdown around 2 minutes in each songs, that's redundant. And some high vocals approach, like on Framed By Blood pierces my ears, grr. And bad cover art indeed.

Wish they release the three track available on the compilation like bonus or something for the next EP, but I know it will not be happen...

true, unadulterated garbage

uninspired, bland

a true example of a big name + big producer + decent marketing selling 13-yr-old-learns-a-riff-and-shows-it-to-his-friends albums

a new band puts this album out and you guys would reck them to pieces

Don't worry, bro, we're fully aware that Cryptopsy has been dead for quite some time. Yes, yes, I know. You would like to know how long. I'm afraid it's been... nine years.

Now we're just going along for the ride because of their name and Flo, of course.

Re: cryptopsy's book of suffering

i for one love it, absolutely love the chaotic feel to it. yes its too polished and not as raw/grindy like their older releases. but the self titled ruled and got me interested in whatever they'd release after. for the ep itself, love the guitar tone, love the vocal patterns as you read along the lyrics in the booklet. but for some reason what i really love about it is how absolutely clear the bass is through out. it almost never gets drowned out. anyway, i'm ready for tome 2

Re: cryptopsy's book of suffering

I had it on repeat the last couple days in my car. It's a great album. The style is not for everyone, fine, but quit the bullshit about people liking it because of the Cryptopsy name. The truth is the album has been relatively ignored.

No, we are doing really great.

Butthurt that I have a Cryptopsy tattoo, maybe.

Just trying to give an honest review of what once was my favorite band.

The talent is there in Serocs, but the songs go absolutely fucking nowhere, there's not a spark of inspiration, even the good riffs get drowned in boredom, can't listen to it.

Re: cryptopsy's book of suffering

Fact is the music is amazing. That live footage is excellent. Flo absolutely kills it by the way. What's funny or bad about being an independent band? I think that's pretty awesome. And the most ridiculous thing, is that i just don't see anyone in the scene reaching that level of classy, elegant brutality and intensity that Cryptopsy's music has. Ridiculous i say, because they aren't exactly a new band anymore haha

Just got to Halowthane Glow on that live footage.. How the fuck is that in any way not on the level of their earlier material lol. Fucking devastating both song and performance. Each to his own i guess.

Re: cryptopsy's book of suffering

After spinning it a few more times, it's reinforced my opinion.

I like the music; it's different from classic Cryptopsy, that's a given, but it sounds good to me.

The vocals however go against the release for me. DiSalvo era Cryptopsy was actually my favourite so a hardcore singer might work again in the future, but I simply don't rate their current chap.

Unfortunate.

The fact that WE KNOW THEY ARE FOR SOME TIME NOW. NO NEED TO REPEAT IT EVERY TEN SECONDS AND MAKE YOUR IDENTITY ABOUT IT. All the while trying to guilt trip us into actually buying their 30$ 7 inches what the shit. GTFO. Just accept the fact that even as the sickest band you'll still have to get at least a part time job on the side. God.

Omg RIGHT?? That style holy shit, still listen to it at least every month when I feel like getting snare-facialed. I'm actually pretty sure there's more drumlines than riffs on that album. Oh and make no mistake that album is 90% percent Levasseur-penned, that spaz Auburn just did the leads mostly.

Also, shots like these are hilarious (& awkward)

This is the way he say it annoys you the most, and when you see what price they sell their last EP, I don't see what's glorious to be an independent band, especially for a big name like that.

About this live and Flo drumming, I'm okay, I don't see what's sloppy, precise and brutal as in old times, and I think Matt is less annoying on live that CD.

100% agree forever and ever

The "independent band!!" shtick is also borderline scammy in my opinion. Just a marketing ploy.

Their latest EP was completely finished way before they started the crowdfunding thing. With a very expensive producer too. Should have just made it a pre-order, but they chose crowdfunding I guess to try and get more money through the "pity" angle.

They didn't even make half their goal though lol
