I hope this is the right place to ask...
Regarding the harmonic minor scale, is there any diminished scale I can substitute for one of the modes? Instead of using, Locrian#6 for example, could I use replace it with a totally new scale? Like some diminished scale? |

try using a half-whole diminished scale as a mode starting on the 2nd scale degree and/or the 7th scale degree

Not sure how you guys feel about AAL, but Tosin has phenomenal technique. I've been trying to learn this for weeks though (The double thump) on guitar. I don't own an 8 string however and it makes it much harder because the strings aren't as thick. I was hoping maybe some of you bass players out there or even guitar players that know how to do this might have some advice for me. I can only do 2 note groups of it right now, but I would like to expand to the 3, 4, 5 note groups and so on. It's just odd to me how he appears to make almost no movement with his other 4 fingers but he is sounding the notes so quickly. When I try to do it my fingers aren't tucked under my hand that much and doing that feels awkward to me. It might be because I play in classical position (with my guitar upright) so that may affect it a bit but I wouldn't think so since classical players use generally the same technique. Oh, and here's my contribution to some arpeggios for people. The first set is a Buckethead/Jason Becker style set of sweeps, where the next area is similar to something used by Frank Gambale and the last is like Jason Beckers yet again. Enjoy, and hopefully this thread will actually pick up again. Quote:
