karyn crisis in revolver magazine
:) karyn crisis is featured in the march issue of revolver magazine. :)
lame that i had to pay $5 for one page of karyn. :bang: the month's feature was "hottest chicks in metal". :1po: lame category to put karyn in, and the questions were absurd. :jerkoff1f but hey, what the hell do i know about females in metal?! :2gunsfiri :FIREdevil -ravyn satanika |

You know this mag isnt any good.....
but yeah this "hottest chick" trend is probably a mainstream mag kind of thing... even the terrorizer (UK), a mag which I highly respect, had a same category in a readers poll it organized.... |

The whole thing seems to be coming about mostly because more women are showing up in metal and in more prominent positions. Unfortunately, it is still a largely male scene so some ignorant and silly shit like this is unnavoidable. Luckily the female contingent is growing and making thier prescence known so when do we get to see the man meat parades in the magazines? The "girls gone wild" people put out a guys version, so why not?
As a side note, I laughed my ass off at the description of the lady from Lacuna Coil as "unpretentious." In every picture/video, she appears to be trying way too hard to look sexy. She makes me laugh. She's got a decent voice though. |

I'm a huge fan of this mag. I think they do an awesome job of covering a very wide range of music. For instance, this month there's a A7X cover and a huge ass article on Black Metal with some badass interviews with Venom, members of Mayhem and more. If you only like a certain genre or some shit like that, it's probably not going to hold your attention for a whole issue, but there's something for everybody, that's for sure. Plus their art director is pretty much the coolest chick ever, Lara Behnhart. \m/
If you don't agree then by all means die. Edit: And for the record, the A7X article this month fucking blew. :limpwrist But the BM peice was fucking sweet. :beerchug: |

Holy shit Vegasaint you're right! I bought the new Revolver off a kid with a good charlotte shirt and a Korn hat. I read the part with the Black metal article! It was awesome seeing how they all get their picture taken in the woods or by a graveyard and how it's not totally gay at all like someone would think, but actually very scary for old people to look at. Also I got super pumped when I read about how awesome disturbed is in it. Then I lit some patchouli insence and put on my Clash cd's and ate a vegetarian quiche.
Since I have your permission I'll go die. P.s.- Just fuckin with ya buddy, once in a while Revolver has a good band or 2 (It does have Crisis in it after all). I just think it's usuallty a shitty magazine when there's Terrorizer to the right telling me about a new Celtic Frost album and Metal Maniacs giving me interviews with Ghoul and Exhumed to the left. Revolver mag
So what do you guys think about having women in metal displayed as sexy? Does that take the attention away from the music. I mean, not that Karyn isn't that kind of woman, but I'm sure she'd rather people concentrate on her voice than her sex appeal.

As a whole our society focuses on sex and selling objects of desire works, so there is no avoiding things like this. What I find interesting is that the "sexy woman" image is used to sell things to women just as much as men. For some reason, women don't run out to buy images of sexy guys as much as they would images of other women. Maybe some women out there can explain this to me, cause I'm stumped.
