my turn..
Yo folks I just read this thread about furity loops and I wanted to show you my first old school death metalish song. I used several sound fonts for the guitars and samples for the drums recorded by one of my drummer friends \m/
I'm not a musician or somethin and can't even play an instrument but I figured fruity loops is fun and so I produced this 2 minutes of pure fuckin hatred and satan old school death metal song! Would be cool if you could check it! I'm also looking for someone who's interested in recording some simple guttural vocals for this song. Every time I try it it feels like my throat explodes... so no chance for doing it by myself. Would be soooo cool if any of you guys could give it a try! If you'r interested let me know and message me via ICQ; 141-287-265 or write me an email or PN. So... here's my song: http://rapidshare.com/files/22026327..._FL1_.mp3.html |

I would REALLY appreciate it if somebody could help me out with a little problem I'm having. I opened up Fruity Loops the other day to continue working on a song. The song and all the patterns belonging to that song were still there, but when I try to play either the patterns or the song back, I get nothing but dead silence. I think the sound for the program is working fine 'cause I still get the "launch-explosion" sound when I first open up Fruity Loops. I don't know if I deleted some files while cleaning out my computer or what, but this sucks. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My sound/audio system is fine & working great, so it has to be something within the program I think??? Thanks in advance.

Check the audio preferences in one of the menus. Make sure the output sound is selected to go through your sound card. I don't know why that would suddenly change if you haven't messed around with that, but it's either that, or you deleted your samples.
Try opening another project and using some of the stock samples in FL. |

Yeah, Fruity Loops is kind of a pain in the ass, mostly for that stupid little grid where the beats are actually sequenced. I just export all the beats into Wav's and dump it into Cool EDit Pro's grid and move the beats around like that. That way I don't have to worry about switching tempos in FL5 - I can just export a separate beat under a different file name.
BTW, the triplet thing isn't really all that hard, you just multiply the bpm by 3 and divide by 2. For example, an eight note triplet for 250 X 3 = 750, then divided by 2 = 375. Just plot out the beats in the triplet tempo with a reference quarter pulse (250 being the quarter note speed) in mind. I didn't know about editing events though, so thanks for that, whoever. |

I tried it out and it did not work. my song goes from 150 to 75 to 90 to 150 bpm. I put all that in the edit events. It looked good. I make the pattern for when it switches to 75 and I go to fill in the playlist and I get a huge bar. I then cut the parts out I didnt need and the tempo never changed.

You have a pm. I dont know why the bar would get so big. But you can use different patterns within the new tempo right. It will just switch tempo right away at those measures.

I have some tempo changes in my gp file but they are not happening in fruity loops. I think its because i am using the change tempo thing in FL but is their something else i am doing wrong?

Sorry bro can't help you, I don't use GP and I've only ever tried that importing thing once. I think you have to reset ALL of your tempos in Fruityloops though, I don't think it imports the tempo changes from the MIDI file...

How do you make instruments sustain? Sorry, I'm a n00b, but sometimes you can have a note stretched out a long time in the piano roll but it cuts off...how do I make it last that entire time? I'm probably trying to make hip-hop beats, so any tips would be cool.

off topic, but what toms did you use on that BDM cover you did? I have the same samples you have but they don't sound like that. Did you do some extra EQing on the toms? |
