Death/Grind Bassists! The Thread
So since the group section of the board sucks, our once thriving community of bassists is dead. So I want to make this thread in hope to bring cool Bass related discussions back to this forum, given the fact there are tons of bassists here.
So, what's up? speak gear, gigs, techniques; make questions, give answers, tell stories, etc. Come on! Still, if you haven't joined the group go ahead, just for fun http://www.smnnews.com/board/group.php?groupid=6 I'll just post a pic of me and my Bass for now (looking scared) ![]() |

Haha I actually had to borrow that shirt for the show, cause I'm very low on death metal shirts and I already received a warning for playing with a Spain football (soccer) shirt once. Close minded fucks, all they care about is the audience saying "why was the bassist wearing a football shirt? needs moar death metalzzz"

sorry i dont have much else to add because i still dont have the gear to call myself a real bass player (ltd 5-string - no rig - got it just to record) so im still playing guitars like an asshole. i pretty much stopped using picks though so i feel like slightly less of an asshole. but still...

Here, I'm saving up for a Ampeg Rig as soon as I can, I use 2 pretty decent basses that seem to work for the grind sound. I'm more recording on my pc so a amp isn't needed, however I'm getting a real Big Muff as the POD farm ones dont sound ANYTHING near the proper thing.

What I'm trying to find though is some heavy gauge strings that cut that bright sound out of the strings, cutting most mids is one thing, but strings that just basically sound "heavy and dark"
Recommendations? Cheers. |

try flatwound strings, might be what you're looking for.

Re: Death/Grind Bassists! The Thread
Anyone tried the Rickenbacker 4003S? It's very expensive but I've just about got the money for it..
