Got my signed copy of No-Man: Returning Jesus in the post this morn. I'm not au fait with this side project from Steven Wilson at all, despite being a fan of most of his material.

How the fuck can it be $500 for two bike saddles? I don't ride a bike (obviously), so I am genuinely curious. Seems like a lot for just a couple of seats?

Re: Recent purchases

The actual answer to your question is that it's a combination of first world labor (made in Italy) and niche market (most people are anatomically compatible with whatever is widely available).

To answer you as an outsider--most people don't find themselves on a bike saddle for 30+ miles having to put modest amounts of power into each pedal stroke. So for most people, not a lot can go wrong in about 10 miles of travel, or if it does it's easy to just chalk it up to the fact that bike saddles aren't meant for long term comfort.

serious question: how thick are those tires ? My personal experience with road bikes in the city is rip tires. ended up getting a hybrid mtn bike with kinda off road tires and feel so much safer

Mine are 23mm wide, the thickness of the tread itself is not much more than 3mm. You can't really run a tire thicker than 26mm on a conventional road bike because the tire won't clear the brake caliper. And the thicker the tread of tire is the more rolling resistance there is in travel, defeating the purpose of a road bike.

There are roadbikes now that have disc brakes so they're not limited by whether or not the tire can clear a brake caliper. But you still have to clear the fork at the front and the chainstays at the rear so they can only get up to 30mm or so wide.

I get about 10 or so puncture flats a year so considering how much I ride, you shouldn't be too worried about it. The more you get used to changing tires it's not that big of a deal. There's only been two times where I couldn't fix a flat. I do avoid really fucked up road and I sometimes have to move around drainage grates or stop at train tracks. But that's a trade off I'm willing to make for the ability to travel at high speed and cover a lot of miles easily.

Ah ok. To go to work I can't really avoid some shitty roads as i live in the heart of downtown in my city. Considering I don't have to deal with long distances, and do have to deal with huge hills, I really like the versatility of a hybrid bike. I don't really have the patience or time or money to be fixing flat tires all the time to be honest.

Running Wild - Death or Glory (back in print!)
Sepultura - Beneath the Remains
Satyricon - Nemesis Divina (so overrated but I don't own it so I picked it up)
Coroner - No More Color (think this is a mexican bootleg because the book is a single fold and the lyrics stop at Tunnel of Pain)

Right on. Didn't fully take into account those who ride a large amount every single day. Makes sense then.

It was like $60. I kind of hate myself for paying that much, but considering it's one of my favorite albums and it goes for around $100 (and I had the extra cash to pay for it), I figured this would've been the best chance to get the record for a 'decent' price. AFAIK, they've only pressed it on vinyl once.

Doesn't have a tag. It's as old as me and that predates beanie babies so I don't think so.
