Stories from the synecron sessions (or, Virgil, Derek and the Marcos)

Hey all,

The metal folks at smnnews kindly set me up with this forum, so I thought I'd try to return the favor by gradually writing down some of the more memorable stories I have of recording my new progressive metal record with Derek Sherinian, Virgil Donati, Marco Minnemann, Marco Sfogli, Taka Minamino and Steven Seibold.

I'm so lucky to have these fantastic human beings playing my compositions -- and like most people who have spent tens of thousands of hours of their lives mastering a craft, these fellows are all rather interesting characters as well.

As much as time allows (I can do a bit of writing on weekends, when I'm lucky!) I'll recount some of my experiences recording with these master musicians -- some of whom I've been listening to and idolizing since I was 15!
