Question for 30+ Users

What do you do to keep life fresh?

By now you're probably either married, in a relationship, or alone but little hope of meeting non-damaged women

the music you've made has probably hit its peak in terms popularity and/or songwriting

everything has probably been done by now - seeing your favorite bands, having good sex, being in the love stage, doing drugs

work is unending

not trolling here, just would like some feedback. Yeah eating healthy and working out are obvious answers, but life just seems meant to be completed by 30-35

29 here. Do what makes you happy. Focus on self improvement; strive for greatness in every facet of life. Should be a never ending task.

I wouldn't follow this advice.

There's basically two ways to deal with life: either double down on your disillusionment and accept that life is malignantly meaningless; or distract yourself and sublimate until you die. In the latter you'll never be at rest.

Imagine a new swimmer doggy paddling because he's scared of sinking into the oceans depths, versus the person that's faced his fears and just floats on the water. Life is a lot like that. People will insist you have to keep on working, keep on exerting yourself, keep changing and progressing: no you don't, and no you can't. You might be able to do that for most of your life, but one day you will retire, either by your own volition or by nature forcing you (illness or whatever). When that day comes, you will have spent an entire lifetime ignoring lifes biggest and deepest questions. You will have no idea how to float on the water, and so you'll have some kind of crisis.

You don't have to change yourself, you don't have to strive for anything, you don't have to succumb to all your desires. If you feel uncomfortable when you are doing nothing, then understand yourself and your emotions (science, philosophy, psychology, etc). This will create distance between your self illusion and your desires so that you don't have to identify with every emotional whim. Your biology doesn't care about your well being, it only cares that you bring about a next generation. We're all dispensable receptacles for progeny.

Let me put all of this in another way. A lot of the things we feel are either adaptive traits or they're just byproducts of our past. If they are the latter then you don't need to pay any attention to them if you don't want to, despite how they make you feel. If they are the former, then realise that pleasure and pain are nothing but chemical incentives and disincentives to goad you into survival. That feeling of wanting to progress, that feeling of wanting to have a significant other, that fear you feel towards your fellow man despite being told we are all brothers in citizenship, that need to dress nicely and appear formidable to your peers (in real life or in social media): they're all just the manifestations of biological carrots at the end of a stick. Pay them no mind if you don't want to.

Also keep in mind that these emotions are fleeting by design. Look at happiness for example: If it wasn't a temporary state, then our ancestors would have been in bliss and never reproduced or strived for anything. Pain is also fleeting by design, because we would have killed ourselves off if everyone felt nothing but pain.

I personally like to drink tea, watch youtube, occasionally read, listen to podcasts, watch tv shows and movies and occasionally get toasty as fuck. I've never experienced depression, and I rarely experience boredom. A lot of that is the luck of my biology (dopamine sensitivity), but a lot of it has to do with my perspective on life. Everything I've said thus far is trivial, but it's that perspective shift that is responsible for the change.

Re: Question for 30+ Users

If I can sum it up for you in Gangreenable terms:

Motivation/Instagram Gym Pics/Smoothie culture=faggotry
Soft nihilism=good

Don't focus on social or economic mobility if it doesn't make you happy, and if it does be conscious that it can be a distraction from your self.

The only time that bots are useful is when they resurrect cool shit like this.

I kinda feel the same way as the OP (even though this was originally posted three years ago).
